freelancing for adamant entertainment Adamant Entertainment is looking for freelance writers and artists to produce material for our various product lines. At this time, we are especially interested in materials for our Buccaneers & Bokor, D20 MasterKit and Thrilling Tales lines. If you are familiar with those lines and wish to submit material, first contact us via the submissions address, and send us a query.

Writers
We're looking for designers with a full understanding of the D20 game system and a strong grasp of American English. In addition, Adamant Entertainment prides itself on the creativity displayed in its products; we want designers with original ideas who can translate them successfully into a publishable release.

We need professional designers who can follow instructions, meet deadlines, and produce to our specifications. While a well-assembled query may not guarantee these qualities, a haphazard submission tells us that you're not ready for professional work. Make sure your query is neat and organized. Always double-check for inaccurate information, incorrect addresses, misspellings, and other mistakes before you send it to us.

Always send a query before investing your time in a project. This applies even if the product is already finished; we will not want to review it if it resembles something we have already in the works.

The ideal query is approximately 1 single-spaced page. It sums up your product concept, and what would attract gamers to it. It contains vital information such as estimated length, components, and how much time would be required for you to produce a completed draft. Your name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address should be included. You should limit a query to a single product. If you have multiple product concepts, send multiple queries.

Once we've approved your query, we'll send you a contract which spells out our terms. Given that we work within the Open Gaming License, we prefer to release product that contains as much Open Content as possible (often 100% of our text is open content), so we purchase all rights to a product. We offer writers a royalty on the net sales of the product, paid monthly for the life of the product.

After the contract is signed, we can accept your manuscript. Complete submissions should be presented in a clean, professional manner. We don't expect everything to be perfect, but we are interested in work that requires as little editorial effort as possible--a manuscript full of spelling and grammar problems will likely be rejected, even if we approved the query. Manuscripts that we've solicited can be sent by e-mail as a Rich Text Format (.rtf) file.

Artists
We're looking for illustrators with strong skills who are able to match the styles needed for our lines. We need artists who can follow instructions and meet deadlines. To be completely blunt, Adamant Entertainment uses a great deal of previously published artwork for which we have rights--for an artist to be hired, they need to provide us with a compelling reason to go with them rather than images from our extensive library.

You should be able to produce material appropriate to the lines in question (pirates and horror subjects for Buccaneers & Bokor, generic heroic fantasy for D20 MasterKit, and 1930s-era pulp for Thrilling Tales. We purchase single-use rights, and are very interested in acquiring second-use rights to any portfolio materials you already possess that we feel meets our needs--we don't mind re-using previously-published artwork.

If you feel you have what it takes, contact us at the submissions address. Do not send any sample images. Instead, provide links to sample images online. Let us know what lines you're interested in illustrating, and give us an idea of your standard rates and turnaround time. If you suit our needs, we'll add your name to our artist contact list. Then when we need an artist for a project, we'll go through the list and look for someone who fits our needs. We'll send a contract specifying our terms, and detailing the art that we need and a deadline by which we expect delivery. Files can be emailed to us. We prefer TIFFs, at a resolution of 300 dpi.

Thank you for your interest in working for Adamant Entertainment!
